The Albany Green Party will be holding a potluck dinner on Sunday August 9th at 8:00 PM at 106 Wellington Ave. The New Paltz Greens are back online, just in time to note that the Green Party has supported the efforts of the Coalition of Concerned Citizens of New Paltz by helping to promote and participating in their demonstration today in favor of meaningful single payer health care reform Jennifer Dotson will be running for re-election to the Ithaca Common Council in the First Ward. Allen Carstensen will be running for Supervisor of the Town of Ulysses, which includes the village of Trumansburg. In spite of its reputation, Woodstock is home to Ametek/Rotron, a company that makes parts for machines of war, including F-16 fighter jets, tanks, missiles and attack helicopters. This militaristic commercial shadow to Woodstock’s peace and love identity forms the context for a Woodstock Forum on August 15th and 16th. The Tompkins County Green Party will meet next Tuesday, June 21, at 7:00 PM in Stewart Park in Ithaca, just outside the large pavilion next to Cayuga Lake. All Tompkins County residents who are registered with the Green Party are urged to attend, as new officers will be elected and a new slate of local candidates will be discussed. Registration through tomorrow is at a low, “earlybird” rate of 65 dollars for three days. However, if you agree to become a panelist, exhibitor or to work for 10 hours, you’ll be given free admission. The New Paltz Greens are a great example of what can be accomplished, with a little organization and sustained effort. They’re supporting three anti-war vigils just today. An example of the kind of off-the-radar Green Party organizing that persists in Upstate New York is an upcoming meeting of Greens in the Albany area.
